Wind 101

Wind energy is when the wind is used to generate electricity.  There is utility-scale wind, distributed wind, and offshore wind. This website is dedicated to discussing utility-scale wind and how it functions in Wyoming.

Wind is delivered to the grid through transmission lines. The transmission line development and permitting process is separate from the development and permitting of wind projects. Although one developer may combine their efforts to develop wind and transmission, the projects are completed separately.
